Bear Country Inn and Suites

The Wi-Fi worked pretty well, considering how remote the place is, and the staff were really nice. Our room was clean and pleasant. It’s out of the way, but quite nice given that. There was an unexpected step just inside the room that could trip someone up.

The freshly made, from-scratch breakfast was included, and the waffles are especially worth getting. We even got ice cream. The two nights we spent here had a quaint local feel, with very clean rooms decorated sweetly in a bear theme. There was locally made soap and lotion in the bathroom.

Waterton is an easy, scenic 15-minute drive away, and the included breakfast was excellent. There’s a small grocery store attached for anything you might need. We stayed for a couple of nights in September and enjoyed it. The rooms are older, but clean and cozy. I’d recommend this place if you’d rather not pay a small fortune to stay right in Waterton.

The front desk girl was lovely and really tried to help, but the owner avoided my calls, texts, and emails. We left early, and she wouldn’t refund us. The hotel was run-down, beside the highway in the middle of nowhere, with no restaurants nearby, Waterton 25 minutes away, and nothing open in Cardston. Breakfast is set up in the middle of the grocery store. I could see they tried to make it nice, but our room smelled terribly of smoke. There was no security, the neighbors were noisy, and the walls were very thin. The suites also had no air conditioning, despite being advertised with it. If you’re going to Waterton, I don’t think the drive is worth it; stay there and pay the extra money. I don’t recommend this place unless you like a shitty hotel in the middle of nowhere by the highway.
