Fairfield by Marriott Niagara Falls, Canada

I visited my family here while they were staying for a ringette tournament last weekend. The hotel seemed very nice, and the Hotel Manager was wonderful, going out of his way to help everyone feel comfortable. My only concern was the maintenance staff, especially an older gentleman with a walkie talkie on his hip. They were gruff, never smiled, didn’t move aside in the halls, and bumped into people while walking without being very apologetic.

The little cubby window seating with its nice view was our favorite part. Beds were comfy, the spaces were clean, breakfast was decent, and the location was good. The hotel was recently renovated, and staff were friendly and helpful. The gym is pretty bare bones and close to the kitchen, so we could smell cooking while working out. Great for the price, and we’d likely stay again.

Scott really made the stay for us. We had a reservation mix-up, and he patiently went through the details, from parking and breakfast to the amenities, and made sure we felt looked after. We were there with a hockey team for a tournament, and couldn't have asked for a better visit. The room smelled fresh as soon as we walked in, everything looked cared for, and the beds were among the most comfortable we've slept in. Already looking forward to coming back.

That view of the falls was lovely, even with part of it blocked. The rest of the stay was a letdown. I usually seek out Marriott's, but the staff were slow and some amenities weren't right. The shower never got properly hot, just lukewarm. Breakfast was packed, with too few seats, and getting food was frustrating. I asked about gluten-free options and was told they had bread, but the server didn't seem to know what else was available. When I asked about eggs, I was initially told no. After going back and forth with the kitchen three or four times, I did get eggs, but no gluten-free bread. The staff were pleasant, but this wasn't the attentive experience I've had at other Marriott hotels.
