The Olympia Motel

The room was a decent size for the four of us, but the bathroom was extremely cramped. Worse, we found bed bugs after checking in. When we told staff, they were dismissive and rude instead of handling it professionally. One person brushed a bug off the pillow and squashed it, which was shocking. Then we were told to leave right away, with no help or alternative offered. We’d booked two weeks ahead at about $250 a night, thinking that was fair. By then prices elsewhere had risen, and when we asked for help finding another place, staff seemed to mock and laugh at us. We had to scramble for a different hotel at a much higher price. It was disrespectful and unacceptable, especially given how they dealt with the bed bugs. Honestly, I’d be glad to give a negative rating if that were an option. I’d caution others against staying here.

Within minutes of checking in, I decided to leave. The room smelled bad, looked dirty, and had cracks in the walls. I went to reception to explain and ask for a refund, but the owner yelled at me. My mum, my brother, and I were shocked by how aggressive and unprofessional the staff were. They refused to refund us and made us feel unwelcome. I strongly advise avoiding this place.

For the price, this is handy if you just need somewhere to sleep and change, especially with the easy walk to things. It’s very basic if you’re planning to spend time in the room. The water pressure was fabulous. The air conditioning stopped working, but they fixed it. The bed was really hard and the TV barely worked, though the location and price are great.

I checked in around 6pm, went out, and got back at 1am. That’s when I found bed bugs. The woman said I could check out and get my money back, but because it was a long weekend I couldn’t find another nearby hotel. While I was checking availability elsewhere, they kept calling and telling me to leave. With no choice, I checked out of the room. Six of us ended up squeezed into one room, and the motel completely ruined our vacation. If you still dare to book after reading this, I admire your nerve.
