Nipigon Travelers Motel

We got to Nipigon at 9 pm, after calling ahead to say we’d be late. That was no problem, and check-in came with another cheerful welcome. The room was bright, updated, clean, and quiet, with comfortable beds. It had a fridge with a freezer, coffee maker, kettle, microwave, and a nice walk-in shower. We like a cool room, so we used the window AC, which worked great. We slept well and were back on the road by 6 am, leaving the key in the basket at the front desk. Nipigon was the first stop on our four-day drive from Ottawa to Vancouver Island. We’d learned on earlier trips to check recent reviews to know what to expect, and that’s how we chose this motel. After last year’s bad experience in Thunder Bay, we’d decided to avoid staying there on future trips. From outside, this place did bring to mind older, musty motels, but other reviewers had mentioned that impression and still liked their rooms. Once we got inside, we had the same pleasant surprise. We planned to get breakfast in Thunder Bay, only an hour away.

The staff were so kind and supportive. I was going through a tough time, and they helped me a lot and made my stay comfortable. I’m truly thankful for their good nature and hospitality.

We were heading back home from a road trip out west and stopped here for the night. The outside gave us a bit of a worry at first, but the place turned out to be the cutest little motel I’ve ever been to. The staff were wonderful and friendly, and our room was spotless and smelled great. Clean sheets, clean floor, everything felt perfect. We even saw the northern lights from the balcony! I’d recommend this lovely little place over any Motel 6 or Travelodge. If we take another trip this way, we’ll definitely stop again :))

The front desk staff were really nice, and the room had a fridge, sink, coffee machine, toaster, and microwave. Beds were comfy and clean, and the room itself was very clean too. It’s right in town and doesn’t look flashy from the outside, but it’s a great motel. I’d spend another night here.
