At about $95 a night, this is an adequate place to sleep, and the friendly, easygoing staff were a plus. We were booked through a hockey tournament program, though, and had to pay $195 a night for at least two nights. I tried booking outside the tournament, but all the room rates for that weekend had been raised to $195, even with my Choice Privileges account. Rates the weekends before and after were around $95. At that lower rate, I'd call it a satisfactory three-star stay. At $195, it barely feels like two stars, and the value just isn't there. The hotel is simple and dated, with no gym, pool, or extra amenities besides a hot breakfast. On our first morning, only waffles were left among the hot items, and the breakfast and reception areas had run out of coffee. Our room had wall anchors where a picture had been removed, and there was an exposed copper plumbing repair between the sink and toilet. The place is overdue for an update and seems like it peaked in the 90s. I'm not usually one to complain, and it wasn't that bad. The staffing was limited but friendly and easy to deal with. I'd stay again as a place to lay my head, but only at around $95 a night. This review reflects the surge pricing.

Craig at the front desk made us feel welcome when we checked in late last Saturday. He was on top of everything and gave us a spacious, quiet room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was included and hit the spot. I had a great stay at the Comfort Inn North Bay and would definitely return.

We only chose this hotel last night because it was our last option, after staying at plenty of other hotels. But the front desk guy made the visit worthwhile. He was welcoming, helpful, and genuinely nice, especially when he helped sort out some late-night issues and made the stay pleasant. Really appreciated him.

I was travelling across the country from Alberta to Quebec when storms left me exhausted and stranded. The staff were kind and helpful, and let me check out late because my car had broken down just before I reached North Bay and was being repaired at Canadian Tire at the last minute. The room itself was standard, though not the best I've stayed in. I'd stay there again.
