Hotel North

I was looking for an accessible room and found it so hard to locate one through broad online searches, since many sites don’t even have a filter for it. The key thing for me was that this place is wheelchair accessible, and reviews don’t mention that often enough. It’s also clean, quiet, and comfortable, with exceptionally friendly staff and a beautiful view of the ferries.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t speak to the rooms. I went to the restaurant inside every day instead. From up the hill, it has a lovely view of the water and the Newfoundland ferries at the docks. The staff are friendly and know their stuff, and I enjoyed every meal without leaving hungry. The pasta, chicken club, home fries, poutine, and burgers were all really good. Wish I’d taken more photos.

Hotel North is right beside the ferry and close enough to walk over. It’s well maintained and managed, with clean, nicely furnished rooms and great beds. Brittany and Mary are among the pleasant, courteous, helpful staff. Great value, and I think you’ll love it! 👊❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The rooms are a little dated, but they’re clean and comfortable. I’ve enjoyed two week-long stays in 2025, and the accommodating staff have been a big part of that. Mary, Carman, and Don are fantastic at the front desk: Carm in the mornings, Mary and Don in the afternoons. Mary is the bomb. She’s usually on afternoons, friendly and always up for a chat. I love that Mary! The cleaning crew are great too. I can’t remember the ladies’ names, but they’ve all been lovely. One cleaner even lent me her vacuum one morning after I’d eaten popcorn in bed and left a mess on my side. I couldn’t let her clean that! The restaurant is the best place to eat in North Sydney, with good portions, tasty food, and fair prices. The waitresses are fantastic: attentive, friendly, capable, and bringing old-school service even though they’re young. They treat me well every time I sit down to eat. Hotel North has been a great experience, whether you’re staying a night or a week. I can’t say enough good things about the staff and the lodging. Shared honestly and respectfully, Dan, Ontario.
