Erin, the manager, was friendly, accommodating, and easy to reach by text. The location is lovely, with plenty of parking and restaurants and other amenities within walking distance. The rooms have been newly renovated and are spacious, quiet, and very clean. They include WiFi, towels, a mini fridge, and a microwave. I’d definitely come back.

I booked two rooms at Tobermory Inn & Suites for a special family trip, one for my husband and me and another for my elderly father. His room had no heat, only a floor A/C unit. At 3 a.m. the first night, he woke up shivering and fully dressed to stay warm. He barely slept and was exhausted for the day we had planned. We’d been looking forward to this vacation with him for months, and the experience left a bitter taste and made us feel awful about how his stay went. The next morning I called the manager’s cell. She sounded sympathetic and said she’d make it right. Eventually she moved my dad to a heated room and promised compensation. After checkout, I followed up repeatedly and was told the reservations manager was handling it. A week later, there was still no refund or credit, no replies, just excuses and then silence. That was the last real effort we saw. A cold room could be an honest mistake, but ignoring several messages and failing to provide the promised compensation was unprofessional and unacceptable. The lack of accountability makes it seem like the property stops caring once guests have paid. I wouldn’t recommend Tobermory Inn & Suites. If anything goes wrong, don’t expect them to stand by their word.

The lake view was a highlight, especially watching the Chi-Cheemaun prepare to sail. We also enjoyed walking along the lakeside trail toward the main area, with lovely views along the way. Erin, the manager, was warm, welcoming, and quick to help whenever we needed something. We had a great two-night stay with our kids. The room was spotless and had toiletries, a fridge, and a microwave, which worked well for a family. The air conditioner worked great, and the kids liked unwinding with TV after our walks. It was a lovely stay, and we’d happily return.

The lake view from the balcony was nice, and the renovated room had two double beds, a TV, fridge, microwave, and AC. But the washroom window had just one frosted panel, so we had to cover the clear one with plastic bags because it was fully visible from outside. There were no hooks for towels or clothes, not enough plugs to charge our devices, and the foam mattresses were too firm. Those details would have made the stay more comfortable.

Erin, the general manager, was a joy to deal with, from our first question through checkout. The hotel was an easy 12-minute stroller walk to central Tobermory, along the lake and over a boardwalk. For a basic, no-frills stay, it was a good option, and the hotel is being freshened up, so older reviews may not reflect it now. We stayed on the second floor of the main building with our one- and three-year-old children. The view of the lake and the ferry coming and going was lovely. The room was basic but clean and fairly spacious, and the king bed was extremely comfortable. Mismatched sheets and dated accent furniture took away from the look, though it was still comfortable. The AC handled a day over 40 degrees well. It was loud, but the steady white noise helped us sleep at a comfortable temperature. The next day was cooler, so we opened the patio door and enjoyed the lake breeze and waves. We did hear thumping and clanging from other guests each night, likely people checking in after the last ferry, but it stopped once they settled in.
