Walnut Beach Resort

The location was great, parking underground was easy, and the rooms were spacious. The outdoor areas by the water were very nice, and there was coin-operated laundry. The bed was mushy and lacked support, and the in-room furniture was worn. Noise was the bigger problem: the AC was loud, and with a window open we could hear hotel equipment outside. There was no soundproofing between floors, so we felt every bum-bum-bum as people walked overhead. Nearby guests, not next door, partied all night during our stay.

At our class reunion dinner for a group of 30-35, the food was the worst I've ever encountered. There were two entree choices, including pasta with chicken parm; I had the fish, which was supposed to come with lemon cream sauce but arrived dry with no sauce. The baked potatoes were dry, cold, and seemed to have been made days earlier, with no sour cream or butter until I asked. The vegetables were disgusting. My husband and I couldn't eat the meal, which cost over $200 plus tip. I had to make a sandwich at our hotel across town when we arrived at 9 pm. Be careful with the bill: because it was a group, a tip was already included under a service charge, so don't add another one. I found the whole experience frustrating, especially after hearing that many people who stayed at the hotel had food poisoning from the day before. We didn't stay there ourselves. A classmate who visited over the summer also said the hotel and restaurant service was sub-par. Our group leader spoke with management, whose explanation was that they couldn't get good help for the hotel. I think they should fire the so-called chef and pay for a competent one.

The complimentary EV charging in the parking garage was a nice bonus, and the amenities met our expectations. We had no issues during our stay and would happily come back.

A lovely getaway with clean rooms, great service, and pool and hot tubs that they keep super clean. Love this place ❤️👌
