The street outside has a noticeable number of aggressive homeless people and drug users, so keep that in mind. It feels like a five-star hotel in the middle of a rough area. Inside, my room was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed, and check-in was quick even though I arrived around 7 PM. The amenities were good too. Ask reception if you need slippers or a toothbrush. The location is handy, right in downtown Ottawa beside ByWard Market and near shopping and restaurants.

The bed and feather pillows were extremely soft, and my girlfriend and I couldn’t sleep comfortably on them. That was the main drawback during our four-night visit to AC hotel by Marriot downtown Ottawa in February 2026. We liked the spacious, clean room and its simple, modern style. It came with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, tea bags replaced daily, Nespresso coffee, bottled water, and a kettle. Front desk staff were polite and attentive, though one of the daily housekeepers on our floor was a little rude. The location is convenient, within walking distance of iconic sights, a mall, transit, restaurants, and a supermarket.

There’s plenty of choice for restaurants nearby, and the hotel is beside the University of Ottawa. Like much of downtown Ottawa, homeless people were on most blocks, which is useful to know if you don’t know the area. We had a parking lot view, though views weren’t why we were there. The room was roomy and modern, and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The shower was fine, good but not great. We heard strange noises during the night, probably maintenance related. In room 615, it sounded like dripping water and was a bit distracting. The hotel also has a bar, restaurant, gym, and pool, but our stay was just overnight, so we didn’t get to try them. On-site parking is limited and fills quickly. Street and nearby parking are available, but unloading at the entrance can cause congestion because there isn’t much space. Keep that in mind when arriving or leaving. It’s a comfortable, modern place for a downtown stay, with a few minor inconveniences.

The room had a gorgeous layout and wood-paneled floors, and the bed was very comfortable. It was my first stay here, in March, and I loved the room. Parking was tight and cost about $40 a night, which seemed a little excessive, though maybe that’s standard. The mall is just minutes away.

The rooms are spacious, modern, and very clean, and noise levels were okay. But the beds and pillows weren’t comfortable. We chose this hotel because it said it had a pool for the kids, but the pool was out of service the whole time we were there. All five kids in our group were disappointed. We also hoped to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was empty, but they wouldn’t seat our group of 12. They said there was only one cook and they couldn’t serve everyone at once. It was a Saturday night on a long weekend, with lots of visitors in town, and they had no solution. Parking was another problem. There wasn’t enough on site, so we had to find our own space nearby. The hotel may be new, clean, and modern, but for the price, all these problems added up. The worst part was the front desk service and the dismissive attitude of the tall guy with glasses behind the lobby counter, who said he was the manager. He seemed aloof and knew nothing. The staff showed no concern, respect, or courtesy. I expect better communication and problem-solving from a Marriott property calling itself four stars. We won’t stay here again, and neither will anyone else in our group.
