Even though this area just south of Ottawa is so close to home that I may never need to stay with Peggy, we’ve been in touch for weeks and I can say she’s hospitable and straightforward. Connemara also has an incredible setting. It’s suburban, with Hydro towers in the distance, but when I visited only one car passed between about 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. The back yard forest glen was the one photo I missed, and on its own it’s a reason to stay. The birds are happy there, and the trees are relaxing. If you need to be around Ottawa and want a quiet haven, you can feel at ease here. I’ll be back for another visit now that the leaves are out.

The bathroom was okay, but the room had poor lighting and the pillows were old and smelled bad. There’s no AC, so the windows have to stay open in summer. The house is under the airport flight path, and jets went over about every 20 minutes.

The proprietor refused service on the phone after the customer explained they had a low income and received social services.
