Alt Hotel Ottawa Airport

Getting to the terminal was easy, thanks to the direct path from the hotel right at Ottawa airport. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well maintained, and the restaurant served delicious food with lots of variety. The staff were caring and attentive throughout my visit, always checking that everything was right. The food was absolutely delicious, and the servers and bar staff were very nice. It's a beautiful hotel in a perfect spot, attached to the airport. At check-in, they charged my Visa Debit for the room and deposit, then said they couldn't use that card and asked for my credit card, which they charged for the room and deposit as well. They assured me the Visa Debit charge had been refunded, but said it could take five days to reach my bank. I understand it was a simple mistake, and I feel for the check-in staff, but having about 500 extra held in my account for five days before flying was very frustrating. In future, they should tell customers before charging that Visa Debit isn't accepted, or check with a manager about an unfamiliar card before putting through a charge.

The staff are amazing, and I hope they all get raises for dealing with what feels like a half-finished hotel. It's incredibly convenient for a night or two before a connecting flight, but if you're staying longer, find something downtown where there's more to do. A lot feels unfinished, from the nonworking room phones to the weird ice buckets.

Getting here is easy: from the airport, it's all indoors and takes 10 minutes max. By that I mean 10 minutes from having your luggage and standing right at the hotel front desk. Definitely a must-stay property. I was here for two nights.
