After flying since 4am, I checked in at 10 pm exhausted and ended up with a terrible night. I live in the big apartment building around the corner and had been away for work for 8 months. When I got back, the power was out and my fridge smelled rotten. My bills were paid in advance and my account was fine, but the power company couldn't immediately explain or fix it. The room cost $253 a night, including a $50 damage deposit. The first room had loud kids next door and a connecting door that let me hear everything. There were no other rooms available, so I asked for a refund to go elsewhere when the kind young man at the desk offered a king room for $40 more. I couldn't afford that. Since I was exhausted, I asked if he could upgrade me for free, and he agreed. That young man working Saturday evening, Jan 31, deserves 5 stars. The hotel itself was poor. My king room had dirty, debris-covered rugs that hadn't been vacuumed, dirty doors, pillows that smelled of bad BO, and hair in the sink and tub. There was a Keurig machine but no coffee pods, no microwave, only a fridge. Later the hydro crew came to restore power at my apartment, so I left the hotel to let them in. A lobby security guard stopped me, and when I asked why, he didn't speak English. At 7:30 am I was woken by a child shouting and throwing a tantrum for two hours. Hotel security went to the door twice, but the noise continued. I eventually came out and argued with the woman, who said she didn't speak English, so I spoke French to her. On a Sunday morning I couldn't even sleep in and get my $253 worth. When I called reception about the missing coffee, I was told to come downstairs and get it. I don't recommend this place. It's old, run down, and dirty, and having to beg for an upgrade and coffee says a lot about the customer service. Pay an extra $40 and get a decent night's sleep at the holiday inn down the road. I'm also a high status Wyndham rewards member. Never again!

Harriet and I spent the night at the Days Inn Hotel in Ottawa while my apartment was being chemically treated for a few hours, and we had a good time. The staff were friendly, and the price felt reasonable for the Canadian economy and the location. Hotels that welcome dogs are rare, so I appreciate the ones that do. Good job. Peace.

The comfortable bed and pillows were the one genuinely nice part of my three-night stay at the Days Inn Ottawa. The room and hallways were dark and dingy, and the lighting in the room was too dim. The phone didn't work, which I discovered when I tried to call the front desk about the broken toilet seat. I had to call twice on my own phone before it got fixed. My room was never made up. On my first day, I told housekeeping when I'd be out while they were cleaning the neighboring room. They came back twice, but both times were when I'd said I'd be in meetings.

The location near restaurants and the loblaws store was the only good part. My room was dirty, with a filthy carpet and broken wires on the floor. There was no microoven or drinking water, and the chair didn't work. It seemed like the rooms and hotel weren't maintained at all. One of the worst hotels I've stayed in.

The location was great, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel or come back. We arrived around 11:00 PM after calling to say we'd be late. Apparently they may cancel your reservation if you don't arrive before 9 PM, so keep that in mind. I called several times, got put on hold and hung up on three times before I finally reached someone. After buzzing in, we were hit by a strong, strange odor in the lobby. The elevator was dark, full of garbage, and smelled different but just as unpleasant. The AC was blasting in our room even though it was 10 ° outside, so the room was freezing. There were no towels at all. I called, and was told to go back down to the lobby, so I walked the long dark hall and took the dirty elevator to get them myself. The in-room Kuerig had no Pods, making it just a decoration. The staff member could only give us two pods for three people. We also paid a $50 deposit, extra parking fees, and the room charge. Nobody tried to make us feel welcome or make the stay more pleasant.
