Rideau Inn

Lucie was so helpful whenever we had questions, and we used the pleasant common areas a lot to plan our outings. My husband, his brother, and I booked two rooms at the Rideau Inn. It’s an older home, beautifully maintained and spotless, and very good value in a convenient spot for seeing most of Ottawa. Each room is different. Ours had en suite bathrooms, though some rooms have a private bathroom across the hall. The self-serve continental breakfast had lots to choose from: croissants, muffins, toast, cereal, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, real creamer, and more. Shampoo and body wash were provided in the showers. We had an excellent stay and wouldn’t think of staying elsewhere on our next visit.

Our host was so humble and helped us throughout the stay. The place was clean, bright, and really comfortable. We were in Ottawa for two nights, and the location worked perfectly, close to the main landmarks and a 24/7 diner. We’d definitely go back.

Parking is the one thing to plan around. There are spaces at the back for up to three cars, but snow makes an already small area tighter. Keep that in mind and you should be fine. Otherwise, the room was very clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed and bedding. I liked the well-kept Edwardian interior, and the location has a quaint feel. The continental breakfast looked well stocked and ready early, though we didn’t try it. The owner is adorable and gave us a pleasant welcome. I’d choose this over a larger chain hotel in Ottawa.

The $10 parking option is a nice extra, but there are only three small spaces, so book ahead if you need somewhere secure for your car. The common areas have fridges and a comfortable place to unwind, and the inn is very clean and well maintained. Staff are warm and welcoming, and prices are reasonable. It’s right downtown, close to pubs, restaurants, and entertainment. I’m in Ottawa at least twice a year, and this is going to be my regular overnight spot. I’m glad it’s an official B&B, not one of those shady Airbnb “ghost hotels” that take housing away from locals. Support this honest business, they deserve the love for their service.
