Swiss Hotel

We really felt at home during a great stay. It’s a small, family-run hotel, and the people there gave us such a warm welcome. The room and linens were extremely clean. Whenever I’m in Ottawa, this will be my place.

It’s close to the city centre, restaurants, and other nice places, but I didn’t feel the surrounding area was very safe. The room itself was nice, though services were absent. Cleaning only happens every two days unless you ask specifically, and nobody mentioned that at check-in. It’s disappointing that services still haven’t returned after COVID, which is still used as an excuse, especially when the price is comparable to nearby hotels.

The room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, clean white luxurious bedding, plenty of space, and a desk that worked perfectly for getting work done. The owner is charming and onsite, and the rooms are excellent. It’s a boutique place, but the lack of amenities may not suit everyone: no gym, bottled water, room service, cable TV, or elevator. I would stay again and recommend it, with those limitations in mind.

Everything was within a 5-15 minute walk, which made the location hard to beat. While my girlfriend slept in, I checked out three coffee shops, walked past Parliament, and looped back through downtown in under an hour. The woman working there was so kind and friendly, and the rooms were spotless, cozy, and comfortable. I’d recommend staying here and will come back if I’m in Ottawa again.
