The cabins are cute, the bed and pillows were comfy, and the staff were really kind. There are nice shared spots too, with BBQs, firepits, and a games room. It was mostly quiet, though you could hear some highway noise. But the cost-cutting was hard to miss. The hand soap in our bathroom was basically water, like someone had topped up the bottle. The kitchenette had just two of each basic utensil and dish, plus a sponge cut in half. The tiny shower was rusty and looked like it might have mold, and there was cut, exposed drywall that could have been from water damage or mold. We also found a big spiderweb, so it seemed the room hadn’t been dusted in a while. The front door didn’t close flush, and the room was drafty. We booked through VRBO and paid the usual extra fees, then got hit with a surprise amenity fee each night at check-in. They’d mentioned the $2/night EcoFee beforehand, but not this other charge. With so many issues and such cheap supplies, it felt kind of scummy.

This was our favourite stop on a long trip through two national parks, and we’d love to come back. The staff were top class, so friendly and helpful. We stayed in mid-October, and the loghouse was beautiful, warm, and cosy, with everything we needed on site. There’s a playground outside and a games room packed with games. You can borrow DVDs for a cosy night in, including cartoons and films. The coffee machine had complimentary drinks and cookies, and the washing facilities were excellent.

The cabins felt secure, and the location between Hinton and Jasper, closer to Hinton, was great. There was lots of wildlife along the way to the ski mountains. Inga at the front desk answered all our questions about the area. It’s a 40-minute drive to the ski mountain, but totally worth it. Definitely a place I’d return to.

We spent the night in a cosy wooden cabin surrounded by forest, and it was unforgettable. Mosquitoes left me with quite a few marks, though. I even came face to face with a big black bear and had to run back to the cabin! Later, we sat around the campfire with some other couples, had beer, and hung out. A wonderful evening and a perfect spot to rest and recharge.

There’s not much to do here, inside or out. The only things on offer were shelter, electricity, and wifi, and even the wifi only worked now and then. We lost electricity for a couple of hours on our last night. The lodges sit beside the highway, so trucks passing by really shake your spirit. Maybe I’m spoiled, but the TV couldn’t run Netflix or YouTube. Miette Mountain Cabins feels like it has an identity crisis. It looks like a lodge from outside, feels like an Airbnb inside, and sits alone in the woods like a private resort, but there’s no restaurant, medical facility, or excursion available. The nearest and only place to get food is a 10-minute drive away. We booked because it claims to be “in Jasper,” but it’s a solid 30-minute drive from the actual town along a completely dead highway. It really is in the middle of nowhere, like Courage from “Courage the Cowardly Dog.” I was terrified for both nights, expecting Ed Gein or an el-chupacabra to appear at the door, or the neighbours to come execute us for parking a little on their side of the lot. The picture says it all about the flimsy door lock. Think this review’s too harsh? I dare you to stay one night. bye.
