The breakfast spread had just about anything you could want, and the Calnash arena is really close by. It’s a lovely independent place with a homey feel. The owner clearly takes pride in it and was very helpful. My room looked new, was spotless, and had a super comfortable bed.

We found the Stampeder during a blizzard and were so glad we did. The managers were thoughtful and kind, and really made us feel like family. Even though we arrived very late, they greeted us warmly, and Shelly offered tea and snacks before we headed upstairs. Our spacious room was clean and cozy, with two comfortable beds, lots of pillows, a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and a desk with a great chair. The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and we slept like babies. Breakfast had loads to choose from: cereal, bagels, toast, French toast, boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins, cinnamon buns, cookies, and coffee with flavored creams. The coffee was really, really good. We were thankful to find this place instead of ending up in a cold, dull, overpriced hotel. Ten out of ten across the board. Just book it, you won’t be disappointed.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast offered a wide range of choices for a decent stretch of time. I also appreciated the different spots to plug in electronics, since that isn't always available. The hotel is older, but our room was lovely and very clean, and the beds were comfortable. I’d recommend it and would stay again. One thing to check is the credit card charge. We were billed $25 more per night than the price quoted when I booked. I’d checked and confirmed the rate beforehand. At arrival, I was told we had a nice large room, which we did, but nobody said it was an upgrade that would cost extra. That didn’t feel like an ethical way to handle it. I understand an upgraded room costs more, but if I’d known it meant another $25 per night, I would have asked for the standard room I originally booked.

The beds were clean and comfy, and every room had its own A/C, which was nice. We got a newly renovated room for a fraction of the price. It’s an older place, and that’s the only reason I didn’t give it five stars. There was a microwave and coffee maker too.

The room was a mess when we got in. One bed looked like no one had cleaned it after the last guest, and we found short, curly hairs on the toilet seat and in the tub, plus used towels on the bathroom floor. The staff were rude, probably because we were a Native family. The price was decent, I guess, but I’m never staying there again. I’ll tell this story whenever anyone mentions a gross hotel room. One out of five, only because the orange juice was alright.
