The way Char handled our call was extremely rude and unprofessional. She said there was a dorm room available, and when we declined and asked about a suite, she cut us off in a childish voice, saying they weren’t a motel and we should look elsewhere. Then she mocked us with “blah blah blah,” as if we couldn’t afford the place. I told her that was rude, and she kept insisting we couldn’t afford her dingy hotel, so I hung up. Best Western took us in politely and professionally. It’s the best hotel in town, and better quality too.

Several people told us afterward how much they appreciated the service, which meant a lot during such a hard time. We held a memorial for my younger brother at Char’s Landing, a venue one of his close friends had recommended. Meeting Char and seeing the space made us feel we’d found the right place. She was kind, professional, and supportive, and the venue had a warm, respectful feel where everyone was comfortable. Thank you, Char, for everything.

The rooms were spacious, very clean, and had all the amenities we could need. Our host went well beyond what was expected while we were there. Do yourself a favour and stay here!

Right in the heart of Port Alberni, with loads of parking and everything needed for a comfortable stay. What a lovely spot!

A travel hiccup led to a scheduling problem, and we couldn't arrive on the date we’d booked. They went out of their way to help us, and were friendly and honest about it. Real Canadian hospitality.
