It’s easy to get to and fine, but the place looks pretty run down and doesn’t compare well with the other hotel and motel options. Being a small town, there aren’t many tourists, and a lot of people staying here seem to be local residents who are here long term, either because they can’t afford rent or are between places. It isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either.

When I tried to book a room, I was told flat out that they don’t allow dogs. I explained that mine is a service dog, not a pet, and was told I’d need to show proof that it was trained by a program. I politely explained that, under AODA law, all that’s required is a doctor’s note. The woman got rude and tried to correct me. I’ve had service dogs for over 15 years, so I know the laws. Beware, this isn’t a disability-friendly place.

Some rooms are still dated, but they’re gradually updating them, and the motel has really turned around. We had a very clean room and outstanding service. The owners and manager have hearts of gold, for reasons I can’t get into. The property manager, I believe her name is Shirley, is salt of the earth. She offered to bring her own fire pit so my niece and I could make s’mores, then brought sparklers for all the kids playing on the front lawn. How cool. We travel a lot and haven’t been treated better at a five-star hotel. If we need a room in Port Colborne again, we WILL stay at Seaway.

We came a couple of days early to fish with a friend before seeing KISS at the Scotiabank arena, and he suggested staying at Seaway Motel. It was certainly a great price. We found out just hours before the concert that it had been cancelled. Shirley was a gracious host, despite her love for Joe Biden ;). We had a great conversation with her, and I look forward to seeing her again. I’ll gladly stay here again.

The room was $100 for one night, which felt overpriced. The wallpaper was ripped, bathroom tiles were missing, and the bedsheets were torn. We had to get our own TV because the one in the room didn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend it. A couple of weeks later, I stayed at a four-star hotel for the same price.
