The Colonel's Inn

The interior is impressive if you like centenary houses, and our host was always friendly and checked that we had what we needed. We stayed in Sarah's room, which had its own washroom with a sink and toilet. The shower is in the shared toilet room next door. There was also a private reading room for us, with lots of windows overlooking the pool. It was perfectly quiet for reading at night. Breakfast was a good four courses. I'd highly recommend it if you're going to Prescott.

Breakfast was the highlight: French toast, yogurt with maple syrup and fruit, buttery croissants, and unfiltered local apple cider, served right to our rooms because of COVID. The setup was lovely, with intricate china and gorgeous cutlery. Thank you, Kay, for such a relaxing, comfortable stay! We had the whole ground floor of the “carriage house” to ourselves over the long weekend, with two beautifully decorated bedrooms. They had antique furniture but very modern, comfy mattresses and plush bedding. The rooms also had handy fridges and microwaves, plus a remote controlled massage chair. In the bathroom, the full size shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel meant no mini-plastic waste.

The owners welcomed us warmly and took real care to find out what I could eat with my very restricted diet. They went above and beyond with my breakfast, and I felt very well looked after. The room had everything we needed: a comfortable bed, ceiling fan and a/c, small fridge, coffee/tea maker, fireplace, tv, rocking chair, and a small table and chairs. We stayed one night. The beautiful place keeps its original historic charm while offering modern conveniences. You can see how much pride the owners take in restoring and preserving it. It's on a residential street near the highway, but far enough away that we didn't hear it.

My co-worker and I stayed here for about a week in the summer of 2019. We were treated like honoured guests from the moment we arrived, and the welcome was lovely. It was a work trip, but staying here made it feel like a relaxing vacation. The food was thoughtfully prepared and very good. I highly recommend it.
