Manoir Sainte Geneviã¨ve

It’s a historic old building in a scenic part of Quebec City, so it isn’t wheelchair accessible, and you shouldn’t expect a presidential suite. The room was cozy and clean, and the staff were exceptionally friendly.

The location is fantastic, between the citadel and Chateau Frontenac on a quiet street. The rooftop balcony was nice, the owners were kind, and it’s an extremely affordable place. The main draw is definitely the location. It was safe and relatively comfortable, though the old, lumpy bed badly needs replacing. The smell was odd and stale even with the window open, and it’s hard to tell what to expect from the pictures. Check-in was kind of strange. I arrived in the middle of the night, used a code to enter the lobby, and found the room keys unattended on a table. The owners and staff aren’t on site 24/7, so if you lock yourself out of your room, you may have to wait for someone to come over from somewhere else.

The owner was super friendly and followed up with clear check-in instructions. He offered cold water and helped my friend carry her luggage to the room since there’s no elevator and she’d hurt her knees. The room was more spacious than I expected, and the A/C was really comfortable, but the bathroom was tiny. Some upgrades to things like the coffee pods and shampoo would make it even better. The location was super convenient.

The staff were so kind, and our room was clean with a really comfortable bed. We were close to the heart of everything in Quebec City, but far enough away for some peace and quiet. Quebec City never disappoints. You have to visit! ⚜️
