Sand Pebbles Inn

Do not stay here! The room smelled like cigarettes even though smoking isn’t allowed on the property. We were on the second floor of the main building, above the manager’s residence, and there’s also a “no thumping” sign there. You’d think they wouldn’t put a family with a small child in that room, but they did. Before we’d even been there 24 hours, the manager sent a staff member to tell us our two-year-old had prompted a noise complaint just by walking. The manager wouldn’t speak with us herself. I feel bad for the staff who work here. There’s also a $25 fee if you don’t wash your own dishes, so you’re relying on the previous guest to have cleaned the utensils properly with the watered-down soap they provide. That felt disgusting and like a health hazard.

Being right on the ocean was great, and the room itself was lovely. I liked the kitchenette, and both the king bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. The Sand Pebbles Inn is worth the price, though a couple of things could be improved. The little fan only kept one of us cool at a time, so air conditioning would be better. Also, the stairs were hard for my sister to manage because of her knee arthritis.

The manager was extremely rude on the phone and showed no respect. We asked for a sea-view room, and the young woman said room 204 was okay, so we booked it. Then the boss lady said they couldn’t guarantee it. We kept trying to discuss it for ages, but got no solution, and she eventually hung up. It felt like a scam. We haven’t even arrived, and the trip is already off to a terrible start.

The ocean is close by, and that’s the only good thing I can say about this hotel. I chose it mainly because I was told when booking that it had disabled access, but when I arrived there was none. That caused a huge inconvenience and made getting around very difficult. The room and hallways were also covered in spider webs and bugs, so the place felt neglected and uncomfortable. The staff were rude and dismissive, and didn’t offer help even after I explained what had happened. I’d never recommend staying here.
