Hotel Maurice is beautifully put together, with gorgeous details throughout, and the staff were incredible. It's ideally placed for walking to Quebec City's main sights without being surrounded by crowds in the busiest tourist spots. This was my boyfriend's and my first trip to Quebec City, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. We enjoyed the hotel and staff so much that we often ate there for dinner instead of going to reservations we'd made at other restaurants. It's a distinctive place, and the rooms are each a little different. If you prefer the standard, cookie-cutter style of a Marriott or Hilton, it may not suit you. We stayed in room 304, which was exceptional. If you have specific needs, check the room details online or contact the hotel for advice about which one might fit your ideal stay. Highly recommend. We'd stay at The Maurice again if we return to QC.

The front desk staff weren't welcoming when we checked in, and most of the time nobody was at the front entrance to explain that reception is on another floor. There was also construction in the hallways, which brought the experience down. We visited from Toronto and liked this chic boutique hotel overall. The rooms are nicely designed and comfortable. Our king-size bed suite had lots of space and worked well for one night or longer. The heated floors were a particular plus.

After a long drive from Toronto to New Brunswick, I appreciated how smooth and quick the late check-in was when we arrived around 11:30 PM. Staff had contacted me beforehand to make sure everything was ready. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, with a relaxing bed and a stylish bathroom with dark tiles, gold-toned details, and a very good shower. I also had a balcony with a nice snowy view. Valet parking was closed when I arrived late, but that wasn't a problem. Parking nearby was easy, about a two-minute walk away. It was a great one-night stay at Hôtel Maurice, and I'd definitely recommend it and stay again.

Ramana at Front Desk/Guest Services and Alex at Valet stood out for their professionalism, kindness, and care. My husband has a Hotel Administration degree and spent many years in the industry, including at upscale hotels. I've worked in service for 20 years, so we both recognize staff who care about guests and their experience. Ramana made sure we knew about all the hotel's amenities and services. She listened closely, was personable, and treated us as if we were the only guests there. It's clear she enjoys her work and people. She was thorough, attentive to detail, and went out of her way to offer options and help. All week, Ramana was the only staff member to tell us about milk or cream for coffee, patio fire pits, slippers, spa discounts, shuttle service, and so much more. Our stay at Maurice would have been very different if others had been like her. If we managed a luxury boutique hotel, she'd set the standard for guest service. Ramana, thank you for making our Quebec City stay our best yet. We hope to see you when we return. Merci beacoup pour tout! A heads-up that the lounge, bar, and restaurant would be closed during our Monday-to-Friday stay would have been much appreciated. Having to bundle up every time we wanted to leave our room in a snowstorm wasn't ideal. Part of booking a high-class hotel instead of an Airbnb is having the bar and restaurant. Ramana, you truly outshine this hotel!

The staff were exceptional, and the hotel itself is very nice, but I can only speak to what happened to me. The manager never emailed as promised, and the low ceiling in the room is a real safety concern. I knew it was low, but you don't keep expecting it everywhere. While looking at an email on my phone and heading toward the sitting area, I walked straight into it and hit my head hard enough to make a small hole in the thin wall. I wouldn't be surprised if the ceiling height breaks a local safety rule. In New York, I don't think that height would be legal for a hotel room. At minimum, they should put protective foam on the wall. If management contacts me with a detailed plan to fix this and offers compensation for the future, I might reconsider my review. This could have been prevented with more thought.
