Hôtel Sainte-Anne

The room was cold and had a lingering instant noodle smell, maybe from a previous guest. There also weren’t many working outlets. Still, it’s a cute place, and the location right in the centre of Old Montreal is amazing. We were greeted with a smile by a friendly receptionist, and waking up to the Nespresso machine was lovely.

We enjoyed our three-night stay, and the price was quite reasonable for such a fantastic spot in old Quebec City. Nice restaurants are on the same street, and the parking lot under city hall is just a block away, though there was nowhere to drop our suitcases at the hotel before parking. A few things in the room were frustrating. There was no light at all in the area with the closet, coffee maker, and refrigerator, and the lighting elsewhere was generally poor. I’d bring a bright flashlight. We couldn’t control the heat ourselves. One night the room was quite cool, and the front desk person came up but didn’t seem to know what was wrong. He said the wall thermostat was for AC, though it wasn’t labelled, and told us turning the fan off would fix it. It didn’t. The temperature was fine the next day. There was no information in the room about heating or AC, the TV, or hotel services, which most hotels provide.

The Christmas market was right outside the hotel, which was why we came. Book parking early if you want a good spot. We had a few issues, but they were dealt with very quickly. It was a great stay.

Our room wasn’t fancy, but it was clean and pleasant. The hotel is right in the heart of the Old City, close to everything. We didn’t come to Quebec City to spend time in the bedroom anyway.
