Ramada by Wyndham Quesnel

We enjoyed our stays at the Ramada enough to come back twice. The staff were always friendly, let us check in early, and looked after our bags while we went paddling. The complimentary breakfast had bagels with cream cheese and coffee, which we enjoyed. Our room had a comfortable bed, air conditioning, TV, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, and an ensuite with both a shower and bath. There's also a guest laundry that you pay for with ‘loonies’, and plenty of parking. It's in the Center of town. The bedding and towels were clean, though the room carpet didn't seem quite clean and may just be a bit tired. We liked the place anyway.

The room was dirty and didn't look like the photos online, and the towels were ripped. We'd called before booking to confirm the pool and hot tub would be open, but they were closed for maintenance. Sound carried easily from nearby rooms, too. I was very disappointed.

We gave this Ramada a second try after staying one night on our way to Fort St. John and another a few days later on the return trip. The second room was better, and the night staff member was sincere and apologetic when we explained what had happened. We were moved to a different room, but soon after checking in, cleaning staff knocked and opened the door without waiting for us to answer. There weren't any towels in that room, so it clearly wasn't ready, yet we were still checked into it. At about 7:30 the next morning, while we were barely awake, staff banged on the door to clean even though the do not disturb sign had been up since the night before. That's not acceptable. The rooms also need major upkeep: some curtains had cigarette burns, there was garbage inside and outside the units, and things smelled musty. The first night, the air conditioner barely worked and didn't cool the room until after midnight. The room smelled bad, and at checkout the front desk person spoke very little English, so we had to write out our instructions or requests. The continental breakfast barely qualified as breakfast both times. We won't stay at this dump in Quesnel again.

I stayed on Aug 30th 2025 while traveling for a friend's funeral, and it was a horrible experience. The carpet was torn and the walls were dirty, but I tried to overlook that. In the morning I found bed bugs on the bed and blood spots where I'd been bitten. At checkout I was told the manager would call me back. I still haven't heard from them, and they don't answer when I call. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you want unwanted company that might come home with you and possibly make you sick.
