The staff member sorted it out fast and moved us to a room at the actual Resort hotel, though we had to pay extra. Once we got there, the Resort was lovely. Still, the whole start was stressful and misleading. We lost time, missed the restaurant, and never got to the activity rentals we had planned. I’d picked Rawdon Golf Resort after comparing other places in town. The website showed a cozy, romantic room, a beautiful setting, an on-site restaurant, and activity rentals. We arrived, carried our bags in, and then realized our room wasn’t there. The check-in message showed the booking was for a different motel across town, one I’d looked at and deliberately ruled out. Nothing during booking made the connection clear, and even afterward I couldn’t tell from the website how the properties were affiliated. We drove over to the motel. It was dark and spooky, with cigarette smells, holes covered by Home Sense kitsch and laminate, and only one other room occupied. We called the Resort after seeing it. The booking process needs clearer labels so guests know which property they’re booking before showing up with their bags.

The hotel is quite nice inside, with roomy, comfortable rooms, modern but restrained decor, and a fireplace that was very welcome during our stay. The service, though, left a lot to be desired. There’s no employee at the front desk, which felt like a serious security concern. During our three-night stay, on December 4 around 9 PM, drunk people from the hotel bar and reception room filled the lobby. They were extremely loud, clearly audible from our room, and stayed there for at least 1-2 hours as if they owned the place. The bar staff ignored them, and there was nobody else at the hotel to make them leave. I can’t imagine this being acceptable at other hotels I’ve stayed in. Room service was also pretty lazy. They made the beds and replaced used dishes and towels, but didn’t clean. Housekeeping even took my personal fork because it looked like one of the room’s forks. It’s a small thing, but I would’ve mentioned it at the front desk if anyone had been there. I wasn’t impressed and wouldn’t return unless they staff the place properly. We packed a lot into our stay: golf, kayaking, swimming, and two visits to Gordie’s. The rooms had plenty of space and were equipped with everything we needed. We loved it all and would gladly recommend it for an active weekend away. If day passes are offered someday, we’d come back just to spend time at the beautiful dock. Thanks for having us, we’ll be back!

We’ve returned to Rawdon Golf Resort many times from Calgary, Ab, and it’s a wonderful place to visit. The village itself feels charming, beautiful, and welcoming, with the lake and The Chutes to enjoy. At the Resort, we’ve found the rooms clean and modern, and the restaurant serves delicious food. There are kayaks and other things to use from the private dock. We love coming here.

The owners were kind enough to accommodate me at the rotten golf resort I’d meant to book, after I accidentally chose the wrong sister hotel because everything was in French. From outside, the resort doesn’t look like much, but inside the rooms are spectacular, very clean, spacious, and have mini fridges and microwaves. Ours had a corner gas stove that can only be used in fall and winter. The balcony was lovely, with a river view. I also loved how check-in and communication with the owners worked. There’s a nice Nespresso machine for making morning coffee, or you can cross over to their restaurant for breakfast.
