Holiday Inn Express & Suites Regina-South by IHG

If you're bringing a dog, there's very little room to take it potty on the property. We found a small grassy patch beside the BK, but there's not much space, especially for larger dogs. The hotel itself was clean and seemed recently renovated. Our room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff were friendly and worked hard to make our stay good.

The hot breakfast was great, and the location worked well for us. Our room, though, felt a bit worn and needed some maintenance. The towel bar was broken, the toilet paper holder was nearly falling off, and there were stains in the bathtub.

After checking out and leaving Regina, I realized I'd forgotten my phone charger and returned to the hotel. The cleaner had started on the room, so I asked whether she'd found the tip I'd left. She said no, and explained that her housekeeping manager had entered the room first. She didn't seem bothered if the manager had taken the money, saying people from her country have trouble finding work and she was grateful to have a job there. I was outraged. That tip was meant for the person who had cleaned my room for several days, not her manager. These workers come with their families hoping to escape poverty, work incredibly hard, and still face this kind of unfair treatment. It's unacceptable. I gave the cleaner more money from my wallet, but I still feel uneasy that my original tip was taken without permission. I'd chosen it for a specific person, and someone else shouldn't have decided otherwise. Because of what happened, I don't recommend leaving a tip at this hotel.

The rooms and breakfast area were very clean, and we enjoyed the food. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay.
