Residence Inn by Marriott Regina

The suite was spacious and clean, and its full kitchenette made the holiday feel like home. My kids also enjoyed the well-kept pool, and breakfast had plenty of fresh choices. Housekeeping kept the room in great shape. The front desk encounter on Christmas Day, though, really affected the visit. The receptionist with curly hair was cold and impolite, and my children felt uncomfortable and intimidated. It was disappointing to meet someone so unwelcoming at a hotel that otherwise has good facilities and hardworking support staff. I hope management addresses the front desk service. My kids had recently stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott Regina with other family members. Most of the experience was excellent, but that one interaction made a difference.

The room’s A/C didn’t cool it at all. Instead, the temperature climbed to 24 degrees overnight, so we barely slept. We had to argue with the front desk for a bill credit, and they seemed to want maintenance to confirm our report first. Maintenance said they’d fixed it, but the heat came roaring back within minutes of their leaving. The sheets and towels didn’t smell fresh either. Breakfast was nice, though we had to keep asking for things to be refilled, as nobody seemed to be watching. Parking costs extra, but there aren’t many proper lot spaces. Some are beside the front doors, and the rest are next to a Burger King on the property. For almost $200 a night, this wasn’t what we expected. The hotel looks like an older renovated building, sits in a rougher neighborhood, and has a drab, nondescript entrance with no curb appeal. Next time we’d just stay at Hotel Sask.

She didn’t treat us like guests or help with our simple request for an extra blanket. This happened on Christmas Day and left the family upset. Management should take it seriously, since staff behavior reflects on the hotel’s reputation. After this, I wouldn’t recommend staying here to people I know.

The room felt like a nice home away from home, with a full-size fridge, over-the-range microwave, dishwasher, and dishes for four. It was a decent size, and parking was ample. There was coffee and tea all day, a decent breakfast, and friendly staff. The hotel also has an exercise room, laundry, an ice machine, an on-site mini convenience store, and more. It’s close to Pasqua Hospital, and the medical rate was $40.00 less than the regular room rate.
