This time, the room itself was a mess: too few towels, dark hairs on the comforter, streaks on the mirror, and no fitted sheet on the bed. The flat sheet looked like it had just been tossed over it. I used to work in hotel housekeeping, so I know how careful cleaning needs to be. I was already exhausted when I noticed all this at 2:30 am. I tried calling the front desk, but the phone didn’t ring, so I had to go down from my third-floor room myself. The clerk from my previous stay was there again, and last time he’d been friendly and even waived my $200 deposit because I was paying by debit card. This time, when I asked for a fitted sheet, the man at the desk seemed confused and blamed me for not noticing sooner. He tried to move me to another room, but I only wanted the sheet. After going back upstairs, I gave up and planned to sleep on the mattress cover, which looked like a pee pad. A few minutes later, he knocked and brought me a flat sheet. I told him it was the wrong kind and not to bother me again, then shut the door. I felt ignored and pressured to accept fixes that didn’t solve the problem. I doubt I’ll stay here again.

The room and bed were comfortable, and the place was really quiet, which worked well for our one-night trip. Breakfast was delicious, all made in-house, and we wished we’d eaten dinner at Ricky’s the night before. We’ll come back. The one letdown was the lack of a smart TV. We were told other guests bring their fire sticks.

When I checked out, it felt like I was leaving old friends. I’d arrived in a bad situation, desperate to find somewhere to stay for the night, and the people at the hotel and lounge made a real difference. Everyone was warm, understanding, and empathetic, and I’m forever grateful. You’re all wonderful, and you’ve made a customer and friend for life. Thank you, everyone at Zahirs bar and Travelodge hotel. Keep it up! The front desk clerk was so accommodating when I arrived. They didn’t need a credit card, let my 7 week old puppy stay, and charged around 500 something for the week. The staff stayed friendly even when I kept locking myself out and needed lots of keys. My room was clean, roomy, and comfortable. I also loved the bar Zahirs. It felt like home, and the service was fantastic. Make it your first choice, I promise you’ll enjoy your stay! Love Jenn :)

The rooms were half decent, but noise and constant interruptions made it almost impossible to rest or get work done. Hallway noise carried heavily under doors and through the building. Room service showed up unpredictably, often after 3 PM. The washer and dryer were broken, the pool was out of service, rooms were cleaned only every second day, and breakfast was apparently over if you didn’t check in at the front desk before 9:30 AM. They also tried to charge me $90 for makeup on a comforter. The main concern was billing. I’d paid cash for the room and already paid a room deposit, yet someone tried to manually key in a charge of over $500 on my credit card without my authorization. My bank blocked it, but it could have caused real financial harm. Customer service was indifferent when I raised it. I asked for one night to be comped as a goodwill gesture for the improper billing attempt and the stress, but that wouldn’t undo the disruption. If you stay, document every payment and keep track of all charges. Manual key-ins have come up in other reviews, so this seems to be an ongoing problem. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. I hope management, including Tanzir, will comp a night, though I’m not holding my breath. The incident raises serious questions about billing here and reflects badly on the Wyndham brand. I hope corporate investigates, reviews the policies and procedures, and corrects them. As a frequent traveler, I expect this location to be formally reviewed, and I’ll contact Wyndham with a copy of this review. I hope they take it seriously, because staying in an unfamiliar city should not come with worries like these. Sunrise Motel, Motel 6, or Travelodge Eastgate may be alternatives in the area.

The bathrooms seem to have had recent upgrades, though the work looks DIYish. There weren’t enough towels for two people, the wall heating and AC unit didn’t work properly, and the carpets and bed linen looked worn or stained. I can only assume the linen was clean. The room felt like a storage locker with furniture thrown in wherever. The outside looks inviting, and the lobby is bright, clean, and pleasant. The front desk staff were nice too. Past that, things go downhill quickly. The hallways are dark and dingy, the carpets look dirty and worn, and the walls are dirty, chipped, and badly in need of paint. Travelodge used to be a quality hotel, but it’s gone downhill over the years. As a budget stay it’s okay, though I’ve been in cheaper, very low-end motels that were cleaner and nicer. The property needs a serious facelift.
