The only thing that didn’t quite work for us was the size of the double bed, though the room was beautifully decorated in a Parisian style. We stayed at Merlot Sunset on a recent Wednesday night and enjoyed the lovely lake, a nearby trail, and listening to the loons over a glass of wine. Sylvia and Rick were wonderful hosts who went out of their way to accommodate us. Breakfast was great too. Thanks for such a nice stay!

Sylvia was so friendly and welcoming that I felt like I was visiting an old friend. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and there was lots of delicious food. The hot tub was super hot and so relaxing. Dinners will soon be available for a reasonable extra cost, which would be a nice addition to a stay.

The place is a dump, with garbage piles everywhere, and the ads are complete lies. While I was there, she kicked out three tenants in three weeks without explaining why, kept their money, and rented the place out again. She had the police do her dirty work while she laughed and cackled. I’ve contacted the Township, Roomies.ca, and Hotel.list, and they’re taking it seriously and conducting investigations. Roomies urged me to contact the police, which I’m doing tomorrow. I also contacted Animal Protection Services because she kicks her little dog. She’s the most lying, disgusting person I’ve dealt with, and a crook. Stay far away from this hell hole. I could say more about how greedy and despicable her treatment of guests is, but it turns my stomach.

The food is delicious, and Sylvia and Rick always go above and beyond. Their place sits in a beautiful country setting with amazing sunsets and plenty of wildlife. It backs onto the Cataraqui Trail, which makes it a cyclist’s dream, and Big Rideau Lake is only a 5 minute walk away. The best!

Syliva and Rick are such warm, welcoming hosts. We had a wonderful time watching fireworks by the fire, then chatting with the other guests in the gardens late into the night. Breakfast was delicious, and the wine was AMAZING. We felt more like we were coming home than staying as guests. Dave and Kimmie
