I was here for a week on a work trip, and the hotel turned out to be a good choice. There are three hotels near my workplace, and this one was within walking distance. The reviews looked good, although most seemed to be from overnight guests. I’m a very light sleeper and need to turn in early for work, so the quiet room mattered a lot. The old hallway carpeting was noticeable, but there was no carpet in my room, and the floor and the rest of the room looked clean. I was on the second floor, which made hauling my luggage and anything large I bought during the week a bit of a trek. On the upside, it meant extra steps and a little workout. I brought a fan to cover noise and wear earplugs; luckily, that helped with the only real drawback, the AC. It made an irregular whooshing sound, as if something was loose. I could have asked for another room or for someone to check it, so it may have been an easy fix. The staff I dealt with at check-in and checkout were very nice. On Saturday August 16th, when I left a little after 6am, a very nice girl was able to chat with me in English. Having Cage aux Sports right there was a bonus on the first night after an 8 hour drive. I didn’t have to go far for supper, and they even brought my food up because I just wanted to relax. Lots of other restaurants and stores were within walking distance too. Colleagues at another hotel said their place wasn’t very nice, so I’m glad I chose this one. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The bed at least looked clean and white, but the rest of the room was a letdown. It was very dark, the couch grossed me out, and there was visible mold around the shower. The air conditioner was dirty, and the TV wasn't a smart TV and couldn't connect to the hotel's Wi-Fi, which I've never heard of before. Not worth the price.

Our two nights at Hotel L’Empress went smoothly, with clean, comfortable rooms and staff who took care of our requests quickly. They were warm and accommodating, even greeting us with a smile when we arrived at 11:30 pm during our trip from Ontario. If you're expecting to check in late, I'd recommend calling ahead. We had a pleasant, hassle-free stay and would happily recommend Hotel L’Empress.

The room itself was clean, though it smelled like it had been a smoking room before. The bathroom was another story: the shower tiles had mold, and the floor was sticky, with dirt in the corners. The sink and tub drained slowly, and the toilet had very low water pressure. Staff were really nice and courteous, check-in and check-out were easy, and the restaurant food was great. Our servers handled our large group efficiently.

The air conditioner sits beside the window and blows the curtains upward when running. It wasn't hot the night we stayed, so we didn't need to turn it on. The room and bathroom were a little small, but had the essentials, including a coffee machine, mini fridge and ironing board. The bathroom was clean and had a very nice shower, the beds were comfortable, and reception was friendly. The location was quiet.
