Hôtel Château Roberval

The bowling alley was a fun extra, and the price to use it was very fair. We also found the staff friendly and respectful, and the food was excellent. We spent a long weekend here with a Tuango coupon that covered breakfast, one dinner, and a bottle of wine. The room was clean and well organized, and redeeming the coupons went smoothly.

The pool is lovely, the service was impeccable, and the location makes it easy to get around since everything is close by. The hallways are being renovated, though, so right now there are broken walls and a bit of a mess. The rooms also feel very dated for a place called a "chateau." The furniture and bathrooms need attention, including mold between the shower tiles, very old faucets, and old thermostats. I don't know if those are part of the renovation plan, but they should be. We didn't try the restaurant.

The food wasn't bad, but waiting over two hours for dinner was too much for me. We got soup after 1 hour and 15 minutes and were still waiting for dinner at 1 hour and 45 minutes. There were only two people working in the restaurant, a cook and a dishwasher, so I can see why service was slow. I feel for them, working so hard while it's busy and so understaffed. I had no trouble sledding around Quebec last week, but here I'd say eat somewhere else and give those guys a break. The hotel itself is good.

I paid $200 a night plus tax expecting something nice, so the room was a real letdown. The shower was tiny and had black mold on it and the door, which also wouldn't close properly. There were ceiling stains, torn and rippled carpet, dim lighting, and no outside view to bring in natural light. The thermostat was broken, the entrance lock had problems, and the fixtures were very old. The jacuzzi was grungy too.
