Rocky Inn Express

I'm not usually one to leave a bad review, but the hygiene needs attention if the owner is going to run a hotel. Our room smelled musty as soon as we entered, so we opened the window to air it out and went to dinner. When we returned and got into bed, there was an overwhelming smell of vomit coming from the mattress. We got up right away and asked for a refund. Thankfully, the front desk gentleman understood and returned our money without any trouble.

The front desk guy was great and refunded us when we asked. The employees did a good job aside from the vomit-smelling mattress and the stinky hallway. The room looked well made up, but smelled strongly of cleaner, so we cracked the window and went to eat. We had our own travel pillows, but after an hour or two on the bed they reeked of vomit, and we threw them out after leaving. The place needs a new mattress and a coat of paint.

The showers got hot right away, and the A/C worked great despite its age. Staff seemed good, though I only spoke with them at check-in. No one was around in the morning, but there's a service line you can call. I've stayed twice for work. My first room was very clean, but the second was grimy and smelled like cigarettes. It seems some housekeepers care more than others. If you get a dirty room, you could probably ask for a cleaner one, but I was too tired to bother. There isn't breakfast, and rooms don't have a kettle or coffee maker, so plan for that. The beds weren't comfortable, with hard mattresses, lumpy pillows, and rough sheets, though I managed to sleep well anyway. It wasn't terrible, and it's fine if you just need somewhere to sleep. If I were paying myself, I'd spend a little more for comfier bedding and free breakfast.

The manager and staff are very helpful, and I'd highly recommend the hotel. If you ask, they're always willing to offer a deal on a room.
