Nio at the Front Desk made us feel very welcome and was courteous and helpful. We also had a great dinner at The Velvet, every dish was delicious. The hotel has a modern mountain chalet look and sits in an amazing location. Our room was spacious and clean, with quality bath amenities, lovely linen, and a Nespresso machine for morning coffee. The heated, secure parkade was a nice bonus. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return and recommend it.

We booked The Josie Hotel for five nights and six days to line up with Red Mountain Resort's planned opening on December 13th. The opening was delayed several times because of conditions, which we knew could happen early in the season. We chose the hotel for its luxury amenities, comfort, ski-in/ski-out access, and Marriott Bonvoy benefits. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and there was a Nespresso machine. With no skiing, we were looking for ways to spend our time. A pool, billiards table, or hot tub would have helped, especially so close to Red Mountain Resort. We did use the barrel sauna for 45 minutes, but it barely warmed up even after we poured on a bucket of water. Halfway through our stay, the power went out. After it was still out the second night, the hotel asked us to leave. The staff were polite, but we had to find somewhere else to stay. We adjusted, found new accommodation, and carried on with our Powder highway trip. Maybe we'd return someday, time will tell.

The property is beautiful, but our stay was seriously let down by the food service. On New Year’s Eve, after we had travelled to this remote mountain resort, the hotel restaurant said it was too full to serve us. They directed us to room service, but that was unavailable too because the hotel had run out of food. At the front desk, my only suggestion was DoorDash, which wasn't available in the area. We were left with no way to get food. The next morning, breakfast took about 45 minutes to arrive: one yogurt bowl and one breakfast sandwich. That made it clear this wasn't just a one-off mix-up. There seemed to be a major problem with food and beverage operations, whether staffing, logistics, or management. The restaurant, room service, and front desk didn't seem to be coordinating, and there was no backup plan. In a remote location where guests depend on the hotel, this is unacceptable, especially during the holidays. Recommending a delivery service that doesn't operate nearby doesn't solve anything. For a hotel of this caliber, guests should be able to count on basic access to food. I'm a Titanium Elite Marriott Bonvoy member and expected a baseline level of service when I arrived at The Josie, Autograph Collection on New Year’s Eve. This experience took away from what should have been a memorable stay.

Being so close to the skiing and Rafters, a great apres spot, is a real highlight. The Velvet Room works nicely for a meal or drinks, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The Josie has modern, clean, comfortable rooms too. Highly recommended for a stay at Red.

Parking was a bit of a challenge because there's a lot of development around the area. I ended up in a gravel construction lot, though it wasn't much of a walk, and the lighting was limited. The room itself was spotless and nicely decorated, with a super comfortable bed. Even when October went from hot to almost freezing outside, the temperature in the room was just right. The desk staff were accommodating. It seems like a newer place, and with the hotel backing onto the ski slope, I imagine winter gets busy. I'd book early for ski season.
