Asessippi Inn

The staff were kind and helpful, and our clean, comfortable room was spacious and had everything we needed. There’s a restaurant and bar on the ground floor, with the rooms upstairs. The stairs are quite long and steep, so they could be difficult for someone with mobility issues. It was fairly quiet during our Monday visit, and the price seemed reasonable. The small-town setting is cute.

The worst part was opening a drawer and finding an anal cleaning device. It was gross, and made me wonder whether the room had been properly cleaned. We couldn’t leave because it was New Year’s and everywhere else was booked. I posted a 1/5 review on Expedia after the stay, but hadn’t meant to submit it without an explanation. I still stand by the rating, though Expedia posted it before I could explain. Staff replied that there was no reason for my review and suggested I must have been racist. That was ignorant, and not why I gave the rating. We’d paid extra for a room with a bed and futon, but got a chair instead. The bathroom had no door, which I couldn’t tell from the photos, and there were holes in the towels. There was also a window right in the shower. A space heater was plugged in, and when turned to high it smelled like it might start a fire. Staff told us to unplug the microwave whenever we left the room so it wouldn’t trip the breaker. I shared photos and my conversation with staff below, but got nothing back, not even an apology. Don’t stay here.

The bar got loud in the middle of the night, with music that made the room shake. The carpets were sticky enough that we had to keep our shoes on, and the bed was cheap and hard. The rooms were outdated, and the bathroom had no door. We also had to wait while they looked for the right key.

The room was huge and clean, and there was a breakfast place conveniently downstairs. We were driving through from Ontario to Saskatchewan and called when we were five minutes away. The gentleman running the place came to meet us, let us check in late, and helped us get settled. At breakfast, the manager stopped to chat and see how things were going. He also suggested the farmers market just down the street, so we went. It was a lovely stay. Thanks for the hospitality! 😃
