Accent Inns Victoria

I came back for a second stay, this time with the whole family and our dog. They gave him treats he loves and a handkerchief that actually fit, and of course I love the duck too. Everyone on staff was happy, helpful, and so friendly. It feels like a great place to work as well as stay. We’ll be back 🩷

The staff were lovely in the few times I needed help, and I liked the quirky signs and duck theme. The room was clean, though worn in places, and I liked the central but slightly out-of-the-way location. Still, I would absolutely not stay again. I slept terribly both nights, waking at 5:45 instead of my planned 8:00 and never getting back to sleep. The walls let the neighbor’s TV through, and the wooden floors carried noise from upstairs. I thought I was pretty noise resilient, living beneath four special needs guys in a basement suite at home, but this place beat me. The sheets were itchy, so I slept in clothes the second night, which helped. Pillows were odd but okay, the mattress was great, and the other bedding was wonderful. Earplugs only helped a little. The room smelled musty until I aired it with the door open, and the fridge was loud at night. The basic amenities included a microwave and fridge, plus a smart TV with Bluetooth, which was a plus. The park bench might have left me better rested.

The first-floor room worked perfectly for my elderly basset, and the dog rooms are set by a quiet green space away from other guests. We came from Comox and found the hotel easily off Highway 1. Staff welcomed us warmly, and the room was modern, with no carpet and very comfortable beds. I appreciated the BC Cancer hotel rate, and the drive to the clinic took 15 minutes along back streets away from the main traffic. I found Accent Inns while searching for pet-friendly hotels near BC Cancer Clinic in Victoria. We used the room cart to unload, then moved the car. I’d highly recommend staying here with or without pets.

The duck theme and all the quirky notes around the hotel are fun, and the place is very pet friendly. They treat pets like any other guest. We’ve stayed several times and always enjoy the service and the super friendly staff. My one gripe is that Kamloops Accent inn does a better job with the complimentary coffee machine and in-room amenities. I take my coffee, or six cups, very seriously, and since these are all Accent Inns I expected them to be more consistent. Also, Victoria wouldn’t match third-party hotel rates, while Kamloops did. The service across the chain varies a lot. Kamloops was our best stay by far; Victoria was our worst, though still okay.
