Super 8 by Wyndham Saanichton Victoria Airport

I’ve written many reviews, but I believe this is my first one-star rating. I stayed four nights, and each night seemed worse, perhaps because I had more time to notice things. There was an unpleasant smell as soon as I came through the front door, stronger down the hall and worse in my room. One night I returned late to find the room hadn’t been cleaned and smelled very bad. It wasn’t from my belongings, which were all sealed in plastic bags. The curtains were broken, the carpets stained, and there was mold in every bathroom corner and all around the tub. I didn’t see bugs, but I’m sure they’re around. I tried not to look too closely. I definitely won’t stay again and recommend that no one else stay there either.

The staff are nice, and the hotel is good. Breakfast is alright, especially the fresh, delicious muffins. Our room smelled for the first few days, but airing it out and using my diffuser worked. Without the animal smell, I’d give it five stars.

I was happy to get home from this holiday. The room had an awful smell every time we walked in, and the tub needs a proper scrub with a magic eraser and some elbow grease. We stayed four nights because there were very few other options, but it wasn’t worth the $112 we paid. To me, it was more like a $40-a-night room. Just gross.

For the price, it’s a decent hotel and the staff are great. Breakfast is toast, muffins, coffee, and juice, and the muffins are fresh. The room smelled like animal pee, but airing it out and using my essential oil diffuser got rid of the smell quickly. I’ll stay again.
