Auberge Val Saint-Côme

I’ll give it credit for being clean, but the place isn’t attractive and the beds were uncomfortable. The pillows felt like a joke. The restaurant was disappointing too. We were a big group, and most of us didn’t like the meals. It was late, sure, but that doesn’t justify serving food that’s overcooked.

We bought our room, food, and ski tickets here because we wanted to support the place. The food was worth it once the receptionist explained that a Sunday lift ticket starting at 3 p.m. was good for 24 hours. We only had to pay $40 per teenager, much less than buying through the ski station website. The setting is ideal if you’re here to ski or snowshoe: the slopes are right outside the window, and a trail about 200 m away can keep you busy for hours. Our room was clean and just big enough for our family of four. The sofa bed might be tough for kids over 12. Breakfast was included, with healthy options. Since it was Covid, the food was more like a picnic, which seemed fair. The Wi-Fi was poor, a good excuse to unplug. The pool was closed due to COVID, so we can’t comment on it. Plenty of parking, and it was quiet after curfew. We could watch an NBA game on the TV. Recommended for a 48 hour break. The nearby village has what you need if you have food allergies or are picky about being around people during the pandemic. Be kind and kindness will come back to you. 😷

It’s a clean place and a handy base for exploring the area beside the Val Saint-Côme ski station. We stayed in summer, when there’s no reception or other service since the property mainly operates in winter. They do give you instructions for getting in and finding your room.

The view over the ski runs is a real standout, and the Inn is right at the Val St Come ski resort. There’s a bistro by the slopes with drinks and good food, while the dining room has a nice selection of appetizers and entrees. The crepe suzette was good too. Worth stopping by for skiing and a nice evening at the hotel.
