I wouldn't recommend Motel Saint-Eustache after spending four nights there. The place feels decades out of date, with a lot of maintenance left undone, and my room wasn't clean. The TV reception and programming were poor, too. The manager seemed more interested in cash payments than looking after guests or maintaining the property. For the same price, Le Fabreville was a much better stay. It's about a 10-minute drive from Saint-Eustache, and the rooms are renovated, modern, and feel almost new. The staff were professional and welcoming, and the quality was far higher for the money. After my disappointing four nights at Motel Saint-Eustache, I spent three nights at Le Fabreville and it felt like a breath of fresh air. I'd head straight there.

This was a horrible, very unclean place. The owner and receptionist were uncooperative and apathetic. My plans changed 10 minutes after check-in, but the owner refused to cancel the second night. The room was awful, with insects everywhere, even on the beds, and electrical hazards in the installations. I was glad my family couldn't stay with me as we'd originally planned. This shouldn't be rentable, let alone listed on sites like booking.com.

We'd definitely book this nice motel again. The rooms were very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Check-in and check-out were quick, and reception was very friendly. There's also a pretty good sushi restaurant within walking distance around the corner. The owner is strict about guest conduct, which I think is a good thing.

A really nice place to stay, with everything close by if you need something. The receptionist was friendly and quick, so there was no sitting around in the lobby for 30 minutes. The rooms are simple and cozy. A microwave might be useful, though they do have some in the motel. I'd recommend it.

The location was fantastic, with lots of places within walking distance, including a new arcade open until 3:00 a.m. It was quiet all night. When I arrived in the evening, the father and daughter from this family-run business were both friendly. The lobby and hallways looked cleaner and more modern than at other motels I've visited, and it was clear they'd recently redone flooring in much of the building and the rooms. There were also quite a few problems. I paid $143 for a room on Valentine's Day. I expected it to cost a bit more, but I've stayed at a spark by Hilton for $30 to $50 less, so this felt much pricier than expected for what we got. The bathroom door was stuck against the frame and wouldn't close. There was painters tape around a light fixture, a dirty cupboard door that needed a quick wipe, and a big bag of rat poison inside the cupboard under the sink. The built-in hair dryer was dangling off its holder, and the bathroom heater and wall Kleenex dispenser were rusty. The heater didn't work. They're small details individually, but glaring in a hotel or motel, and I'd never run into this kind of thing at one before. There weren't enough pillows, and the ones provided were very thin. I slept badly, partly because the mattresses seemed to be wrapped in plastic and made a terrible noise whenever you moved. The smart TV was another frustration. They'd removed its remote and connected an old videotron cable box by HDMI, so only the volume worked on the remote. Nothing explained that you had to switch inputs, and I had to ask someone at the front desk to come help get the TV working. It doesn't make sense to have a smart TV but disable its apps so guests have to use the Videotron remote. The cable also shut off randomly three times during the night. The paid coffee machine was broken, and the snack vending machine was almost empty. The drink machine only had diet Coke or Sprite. We got two Cokes and a Sprite, then found it was out of Coke when we tried to buy a third. When we asked the hotel how much it cost, they didn't know. The smoking instructions were confusing, too. I don't smoke, but my spouse had two cigarettes while we were there. We were told to smoke 9 metres from the door, which was fine. He lit one when we were about 8.5 meters away, and we planned to walk around the empty parking lot away from the hotel while he smoked. Once we were definitely more than 9 meters away, the daughter came out and told us we were too close and needed to get farther from the windows. I could understand that if we were beside a window or within 9 meters of the building, but we weren't. Maybe she smelled smoke from when my partner first lit up a little closer to the door. Either way, it was bizarre, especially since they have outdoor cameras and it was clear we weren't smoking near the motel's doors or windows.
