Sharing a bathroom with six other people meant there was no privacy.

Paulette let us stay at her place after we arrived from a six-hour drive to find no room available, even though we had booked for a work weekend. It wasn't the romantic weekend away I had in mind. We also had to prepare our own lunches, and the decor was cluttered and very 1960s.

The house is old and lovely, though it creaks all over. The welcome was warm, but there's no privacy with the kitchen and bathroom shared.

The house had already been rented to a group, so I was turned away when I arrived last Saturday, September 1st. Watch out. Well done, management!

It's a 19th-century house, but the owner gives guests a really warm welcome and seems to want to make them happy.
