Granite Town

The bed was much too soft for me, and it wasn’t the Sleep Number bed advertised. That was my main gripe. The room looked dated, though I found it cozy and full of character for an overnight stay. Granite Town Hotel is a short drive from town, which made dining, shopping, and exploring easy. The staff were the highlight, genuinely friendly and helpful throughout. With a more comfortable bed, my stay would have been nearly perfect.

The evening staff member was great about apologizing and getting me the right room after I was first given the wrong one. The place itself is nice, though outdated. The next morning, I went to the desk because I thought I’d left my diabetes medication in that first room. The morning staff member had an attitude and made me feel unwelcome, like I couldn’t approach her. She said the staff had cleaned the room and thrown everything away. She let me look around, but I didn’t want to stay there any longer, so I left the room and hotel.

The breakfast setup was a little cramped because of the reception furniture, so you had to watch yourself and other guests while carrying food and drinks. A couple of small hassles too: the hot and cold shower settings were reversed, and one key wouldn’t unlock our room. Since we were there for under 12 hours, the key issue wasn’t a big deal. But the beds were wonderfully soft, and I slept like a baby. The sheets were REALLY SOFT!!!!! I’d never come across sheets like those at a hotel or motel before, and the fleece blanket beneath the top blanket was a nice touch. Hidden gem. I’d definitely return.

The mattresses were too soft and a little lumpy, though the rooms were clean and cute. Everything else made for a lovely stay. Granite Town Hotel has a charming bed-and-breakfast feel, and guests can use the dining area at any time. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help with our questions and requests. It’s close to the main road, with pubs, an ice cream shop, and walking and biking trails nearby. A great place to stay.
