The activities we booked through Aventure Plein Air were a real highlight. Snowmobiling and dog sledding were both fun, and our guide, Francis, deserves five stars. We also appreciated that the front desk was welcoming, and they reimbursed us for the second night after we decided to leave. But when we politely said we were unhappy, the man at Aventure Plein Air's front desk called us complainers and said he didn't want us anyway. We had booked two nights and left after the first. The room was dated and stuffy, with cracked windows, what looked like mold around the bath, and a draft under the door. The old heater kept cycling noisily all night, leaving us too cold or too hot. There was no overhead light, just bedside lamps and another lamp, so we couldn't switch on a light when entering. The bed creaked with every small movement, and we felt very uncomfortable. The on-site activities didn't impress us much. They advertise skating, but the rink is tiny. The spa costs extra, and the indoor pool felt stuffy and not very clean. Breakfast was included in our package, though we weren't told that anything beyond eggs and meat cost extra. They add a 15% service fee to every purchase, whatever the service quality, and tax that fee too, which comes to about 18% in service charges. Booking through Aventure Plein Air was complicated, and we were repeatedly overcharged. When we asked them to correct the bill, they complained that we were picky and they were busy. Breakfast restaurant service was informal, cold, and slow. We won't be back.
