Courtyard by Marriott Waterloo St. Jacobs

Being right by St. Jacobs gave the hotel a welcome small-community feel, a nice break from the usual chain hotels I land in while traveling. I was there for a nearby consulting assignment, and the stay was quiet, comfortable, and reliable. The spacious room gave me room to spread out my notes, and the supportive bed helped after a long drive. The shower had genuinely good pressure, too. The staff were relaxed and friendly. Check-in went smoothly, and they were receptive when I asked about late check-out, which helps when I'm working around meetings and time zones. Breakfast was pretty standard, though the coffee was strong enough for me before client meetings. I could unwind with rock playlists and write in my travel journal. I'm happy to stay here while working.

I've kept coming back since my first visit. Kayleigh handled check-in and check-out smoothly, and she understood I needed to take work calls. She also accommodated my early check-in request without a problem. The hotel and rooms were clean, and the location is great. I'll be back soon.

The main problem was the noise overnight. I think it came from a pump for an in-room jacuzzi elsewhere, switching on and off loudly all night and waking us repeatedly. If we'd been able to sleep, I probably would have rated it five stars. My wife and I otherwise had a nice stay. The staff were polite and efficient, and the location is great. All things considered, it's a nice enough place. Thank you.

The staff and location are amazing, with the market and Jacks restaurant right there. But the place feels tired and worn, and it's hard to see $350 a night as good value. There were holes in the curtains and chips in the hot tub, and the walls are so thin we could hear people next door. The hot tub also switches on randomly around 2-3 am, so be ready to jump out of bed in a panic.
