Econo Lodge & Suites Saint John

If all you need is a place to sleep and you set your expectations based on the price, you probably won't leave disappointed. The room was mostly clean, though it showed plenty of wear. The bathroom was surprisingly well kept, and it looked like they were doing some minor touch-ups in the lobby. I didn't try the breakfast.

After reading all those one-star reviews, I was scared to stay here, especially since my friend had booked it. But when we arrived, things were quite good. The room was clean and orderly, and the shower pressure was awesome. Breakfast was the downside, cold and unlike what I've had at other Choice hotels. The front desk person also seemed to disappear like a wandering spirit now and then. Still, a good place overall.

We'd usually stayed at one of two small motels in the St. John neighborhood, but decided to give this place a try. It was a lovely surprise. The rooms were immaculate and well equipped, and although the neighborhood is quiet, residential, and safe, downtown is easy to get to. We'll stay here again.

When we arrived, the doors were unlocked and the floor hadn't been swept. The toilet handle was broken, and there was nobody at the front desk when we needed to talk to someone.
