Hillside Motel

I’ve never written a review before, but I was really disappointed. The bed was comfortable, and I overlooked the 1960s bathroom and old furniture, but the room was very dated. The door handle felt like it was falling off, and the safety lock was barely secured, with one screw only halfway in. When I called the office about the TV not working, the owner said, “this is a motel not a hotel, and if you didn’t like it we should find somewhere else”. He said he doesn’t have time to check and set up the TVs because he has to do everything, even “clean the rooms”. This is HIS BUSINESS, and I’m here giving him money to make a living. Unacceptable.

The owner and staff were beyond helpful, and Lokesh, Brian and Babu made the stay memorable. It’s not new or fancy, but the room was clean, spacious, and everything worked. There was coin laundry available, too. I was cycling toward Nova Scotia and needed a place near the ferry for one night. The kindness felt like the true spirit of Eastern Canadian hospitality.

The room was dirty, so the first thing we did after checking in was clean it ourselves. The people we dealt with during the stay were incredibly friendly, but getting our deposit back took more than 10 days and multiple attempts to contact them. When I asked about the credit card transaction, the female employee with a strong indian accent got agitated. This experience made the stay not worth it. Avoid.

Dirty floors, and the cutlery and drawer were dirty too. The best part was the bed bugs. I left at 1 am and went to the Travelodge down the street. Absolutely disgusted.
