Regent Motel

The shower was great and the front desk staff were friendly. The room was decent, though the mattress felt a little too soft for us. It had been a warm day, so after we opened the windows it took a while for the room to cool down.

For the price, I can't complain about the room being a bit outdated. We were driving home when a snowstorm stranded us, and this place worked perfectly for us. We checked for bed bugs and found none. We even built a snowman, and the workers complimented it and let me pick up sticks from their backyard for its arms. Some of the bad reviews here seem to come from people who were in the wrong and wanted to leave a bad review. I'd stay again.

We booked at the last minute on our way through St John because we didn't want to set up camp, and getting back out into traffic was much easier than dealing with the bustle in town. The motel is older and dated, but still comfortable, with everything we needed. Our room was very clean and spacious, with a queen bed, fridge, nice shower, lots of hot water, and flat-screen TV with cable. I was pleasantly surprised.

I believe the police should have been called the first night. Around 1 a.m., the night manager knocked on the door of the guest next to us, and a confrontation went on for about 45 minutes. After staff left, the guest kept ranting and at several points said, "I'll burn this place down." The loud, unruly behavior lasted until about 4 a.m. The same guest was still there on our second night. We came back after dinner and asked at the service desk to move rooms so we could have a quiet evening, but were told there were no rooms available. Soon after, a staff member confronted the guest about noise, and another loud, belligerent exchange lasted around 45 minutes. The guest directed several racial slurs and a death threat at the staff member. By then the guest was extremely agitated and seemed to take offense at our request to move. For the next three hours, he stood in the parking lot outside our room, taunting and threatening us. He finally quieted down around 1 a.m. It was a very uncomfortable situation, and the staff did not handle a potentially dangerous situation properly.
