Maybe it's a 2-star hotel, but I had a 5-star stay. The staff were polite, friendly, and seemed to enjoy their work and each other's company. They happily answered questions and offered help. The property was clean, well kept, and felt safe, with plenty of onsite parking, including reserved spots for first-floor suites. My room had updated furnishings, clean linens, fresh paint, and a clean, updated bathroom I felt fine showering in. The TV and internet worked well, which has been an issue for me at other hotels. There was a fridge and microwave in the room, too. Breakfast was free, hot, and good, with lots to choose from: eggs, sausages, toast, muffins, made-to-order pancakes, coffee options, cereal, yogurt, juices, fruit, and more. It's pet friendly, which made traveling with my companion easy, and there were grassy areas to walk them without leaving the property. Plenty of places to eat were within walking distance.

Both times I've stayed here, the rooms have been spacious, clean, and cozy. This last visit was while my father was admitted to St John regional, and he passed away on Wednesday morning. I checked out that afternoon to return to Nova scotia, then realized at home that I'd left his sweater behind. I called, and the hotel quickly confirmed they had it. Manager Angela took it and mailed it to me after her shift, even sending the receipt and tracking number. I'm so grateful for the time she took. Travelodge Suites will be my first choice when I travel.

The noon checkout was handy, and there was a small breakfast from 6am that we appreciated before getting started in the morning. Our online check-in meant nearly everything was ready when we arrived. The rooms were clean and well appointed. You can bring one or two dogs for CA$20 each, I think per week, and there's another form to sign when you get there.

The rooms are comfortable, the staff are really nice and helpful, and pets are welcome. I stay here every time I travel up to take the ferry. For the price, it feels like good value.
