Comfort Inn Saint John

The noise from the ice machine and vending machine carried on all night and into the early morning. We also got no housekeeping during our two-night stay, so we had to take out our own trash. The bathroom sink had a large rust spot and looked like it came from a junkyard, which didn't feel sanitary. The service was poor, too: after check-in, another guest was assigned our room and given access while we were inside, interrupting our privacy. The front desk first tried to say I was in the wrong room, and I had to prove the motel had given it to us. We don't recommend staying here and won't be back.

There was no water or lighting, and nowhere to plug in a phone. The toilet paper was low quality. Couldn't have been much worse.

The front desk guy was super friendly, and the room was very spacious. At $150, I can't complain too much, but the thermostat didn't work and there was no AC, which isn't great in summer. The bathroom looked old, though it wasn't dirty, and the toilet handle had a piece cracked off. It still flushed fine. I'd still recommend it if you need a cheap place to crash for a night.

The staff seemed kind and did come up to sort things out when we spoke with the front desk, but this hotel needs better management. I'd have chosen somewhere else, but the tournament in town meant nothing was available. Honestly, I'd rather sleep in my car. I booked two rooms through Expedia, with two queen beds in each. At check-in, they said a bathtub flood had made those rooms unavailable and offered two upstairs rooms at the same price, each with one king bed. That didn't work for me because one room had three people, so they offered a cot that felt like a chain-link fence with a blanket over it. The TVs didn't work, there was only one pot for both rooms, one toilet wouldn't flush, and there were just three cloths in total. When I got into bed at 10:30, my feet touched what felt like sand under the sheet. I got up and saw dirt in the bed, then went downstairs in my pajamas to tell them. They asked how bad it was, but any dirt in a bed I've paid for is too much. I changed the sheets myself. He apologized about 30 times, but by then I couldn't hear anything he said. In the morning, the coffee pot in the room didn't work either. You can zoom in on the picture to see the dirty bed.
