It’s close to downtown, and the room was clean, but it felt neglected and dusty. The photos on booking sites are misleading. Our door had been left open and unlocked when we arrived, and with two kids, the amount of force needed to shut and lock it felt very unsafe. There were plenty of maintenance problems, and there was only one person handling service. Given the condition, around $50 a night would make more sense. I can see the potential, but right now it wouldn’t be my first choice.

The photos give a very misleading impression. I wouldn’t stay here again, even though I can see the property has potential. We had already missed the cancellation window when I read the reviews, and I was nervous about what we’d find. After two nights, I understand why. The pool was right across from our room, which smelled of chlorine and dampness. The laminate floor had chunks missing, and there were no mats for wet snowboard boots, so water ran from the door into the bathroom. The floors were filthy, and when my daughter asked about the scratches from the bed, I looked underneath and found dust and garbage. It didn’t look like it had ever been cleaned there. The bedding was mostly clean, though the top cover had some strange stains. The bathroom had silverfish, loose tiles, burned-out bulbs, a shower curtain with pink soap residue, and a stained toilet with grime around its base. The mini fridge didn’t work, and the heater barely worked. It was -30 overnight, so the gas fireplace was the only way we could keep the room warm. That was one of the room’s good points. The pool and hot tub were also poorly maintained, with hair and garbage left around. There was a thick layer of white foam on the hot tub, and I don’t know what caused it. Wi-Fi kept dropping every two minutes, so we used our data and hotspot for the kids’ movies. The hallways and main entrance were dirty with water and salt marks, and nobody seemed to be mopping or maintaining the place. It’s unfortunate, because the damage seems to come from neglect and the property has potential. You’d be better off staying somewhere else, even somewhere dated, as long as it’s clean.

We were left without a room for Christmas night, despite having a confirmed booking for two adults and two young children on December 25. Because we expected to arrive late, we were told a cash security deposit had to be paid by 11:00 PM. Given the hour and circumstances, cash wasn’t possible, so I immediately offered to pay by credit card over the phone or send an instant Interac e-Transfer. Both alternatives were refused, with no flexibility. After nearly an hour on the phone, we were denied access to the property. No backup accommodation was offered for our family. The owner never spoke to us directly; an employee handled it, even though it seemed the decisions were being made in the background. For a situation this serious, the lack of accountability, leadership, and basic human judgment was alarming and unacceptable, especially on Christmas Eve. I’d welcome an explanation from management or ownership: why was cash the only accepted deposit when secure electronic options were available, why wasn’t any accommodation or contingency considered for a family with children on Christmas night, and how does this fit with your guest care and crisis handling policies? This experience needs clarification.

The rooms are spacious and super clean, and the staff are friendly. We loved the pool and hot tub, and the rates are great. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in the St-Sauveur area.
