Super 8 Salmon Arm

Police came to the hotel during my stay because of a domestic disturbance, which left the place feeling unsettling and unsafe. That came on top of a generally awful visit at Super 8 in Salmon Arm. My room’s sink was clogged, the sheets and towels were visibly stained, and the whole hallway smelled terrible. The hotel clearly didn’t feel clean, and the staff weren’t friendly or welcoming either. From the moment I arrived, the condition was unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Between the hygiene problems, unpleasant atmosphere, poor hospitality, and safety concerns, look elsewhere in Salmon Arm and save yourself the time and money.

As Wyndham Rewards members, we had a terrible stay. The bedsheets were dirty and gross, and there was a lot of hair on the blanket. This isn’t a good choice for families with kids. The hotel says it’s non-smoking, but we smelled strong weed throughout the building and saw people smoking in different areas. At check-in, the front desk woman didn’t greet us or even say hello, and we noticed she was on her phone much of the time. There was no breakfast beyond cereal, and the juice machine was out of order. You also can’t book through the Wyndham website, which sends you to the hotel franchisee’s own site. That seemed weird.

I checked out five minutes after arriving, but they still promptly charged my card. The room smelled awful, like something sour mixed with mold. I asked to move, but the next room smelled the same, had stained bedding and drips of something on the furniture, and there was used coffee in the machine. The two-star rating is misleading, it should be closer to half a star or one. I wish I’d read the reviews first. I booked a few dollars more down the street at the Hilltop, which I thought was very nice and good value, with an amazing pool area.

After the first room was dirty, I couldn’t trust that the replacement had actually been cleaned instead of just tidied. Its box springs were uncovered, looked gross, and had odd red stains as if something had dripped onto them. The same sour, musty smell was in there too. I’d booked through Expedia without checking reviews first, and checking in was a mistake. The hallway carpets on the main floor had gross red stains with what looked like mushed food left on them. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially with pets. Nope, nope, nope.
