I'd put this at three stars, though I wish I could give it a 4.5. The hosts were pleasant. The large three-bedroom suite over the garage is cute and has a huge balcony, though the kitschy 90s vacation decor is a bit much. The main-house suites are small, cramped, cluttered and dark, with no amenities. The farm and cabin property has a phenomenal private island location and its own dock, with the potential to be five-star. But it seems like too much upkeep for the two laidback Chicken farmers to manage on their own at their age. They need ambitious, detail-oriented help and more money put into maintenance and infrastructure. Many of the expansive wooden decks, stairs, fences and dock are rotting or breaking, and seem past their last safe year of use. The lovely mature vegetation, flowers and paths are overgrown, and much of the equipment is old and rusting. I suspect it was immaculate 10-15 years ago, but it hasn't been kept up and needs serious updating and investment to remain viable at its current rates. We'd return if the nightly price were significantly lower to match what the place currently offers. I hope they can fix it up, or sell to new owners who will maintain it, because the location and potential are amazing.
